Baba Yaga

In this holiday season, children from Russia have the opportunity to live the stories in the various existing thematic centers in different regions of Russia. The governors of several regions have made real campaigns to grab a mythical character to represent them. Thanks to television and the Internet all know that small Russian city of Kostroma in the living Snegurochka, the granddaughter of Ded Moroz (Russian Santa Claus), while his famous grandfather is located in the Russian town of Veliki Ustug, and Yaroslavl Province is hosted Baba Yaga, the witch of Russian folklore's most famous, among others.

Baba Yaga, an old witch, bony and wrinkled, is a character for his black humor and simplicity has inspired many authors who have incorporated it into their stories. Has appeared in a number of traditional stories and legends of Russian folklore. In all shown a different facet of this witch. It is said that he is a wicked and cruel, but not entirely evil.

There is hardly a Russian folk tale that has among its characters to the famous witch Baba Yaga. Such popularity has reached this figure, especially among children, on the outskirts of Yaroslavl, specifically in the old village Kukoboy five years ago the same woman plays Baba Yaga with great success.

This place has assembled a true entertainment center, where children not only come to learn and share with the mythical characters of traditional tales, but also to learn a little history.
Svetlana Kulikova, Kukoboy local guide, explained that in this town have a special program for tourists, children and adults: "We met with groups of children or tourists and go to the cathedral to show pride in our people, and present our history. Then, depending on the program, we had tea and visited the museum of stories. And then go home to Baba Yaga where for an hour are witnessing an artistic representation, "said Svetlana.
What no doubt like most children is their home. Are impressed to see Baba Yaga's house gets up and turns to one side, after they have uttered the magic words: "Casita Casita, turns his back to the forest and turns to me."
Baba Yaga is an interesting figure in Russian mythology because it can serve as a wise guide, a figure of evil or as a warning, depending on the version you've heard or read. Baba Yaga is dangerous, but they say that those who are pure of heart should not fear because they will always survive encounters with the witch.
